Pile of Poems to Manuscript is a class for anyone who has been writing poems but is struggling to turn them into a manuscript. Over the course of four weeks, we’ll look at various organizing principles and techniques that authors and other artists have used and apply them to our own work. We will engage in a series of exercises involving arranging, adding, and removing poems, and editing work not only with an eye towards a single piece but its role within a larger whole. We will also talk about why we create and publish books and work on tailoring our plans for publication and circulation to the scale and audience we want.
About the instructor:
Zoe Tuck was born in Texas, became a person in California, and now lives in Western Massachusetts. Founder of Threshold Academy, she also is a poet, teacher, and book worker. Zoe is the author of the poetry books Bedroom Vowel and Pussy Studies (forthcoming). She is currently working on a book about the cultivation of reading as a spiritual and liberatory practice.
