In November we’re embarking on reading a new text together: Elaine Scarry’s The Body in Pain.
If one way of conceptualizing reading is following threads wherever they lead, one of my current threads leads me from poetics, prosody, literature, reading, and writing to the discursive space of health, healing, illness, disability, diagnosis, and (I hope) to the body, and bodies together, as a site of resistance.
The first book we read in this group was Eleni Stecopoulos’s Dreaming in the Fault Zone, the second is Shigehisa Kuriyama’s The Expressiveness of the Body.
