a six week class
taught by Sierra Dickey
Journalism for Fiction and other forms is a generative writing class applicable to any genre. We will study a few core techniques of journalism (structure, quotes, research, attribution, 3rd person) and experiment with ways they might apply to other less “objective” projects. This class is for anyone who’s ever been curious about writing journalistically and for any poets, fiction writers or essayists who would like to shake up the way they think about their work by applying the lens of another discipline onto it. Infuse your writing with research, quotes, ledes and nuts. Discussion will tilt towards the genre-blurring and technique robbing variety.
